How to Optimize Your Zazzle Shopfront

Let’s talk about the importance of customizing our Zazzle shops! It’s a no brainer that we want to optimize our stores in order to maximize our sales on Zazzle. And the process is really simple. So let’s dive in.

In the backend of your shop, click on Settings.

On the left hand sidebar, select Advanced Settings.

Under the Customize Store section you are able to choose what sections show up on your shop homepage.

Ultimately the decision is yours to make for what you choose to show, but I have some suggestions and thoughts for you to consider.

Personally, I don’t like to add my latest products sold or created. Call me paranoid, but I don’t like the idea of other designers being able to see exactly what I just sold.

And I don’t like the idea of them seeing what I just created either, as they can easily go and duplicate that design and they will compete pretty evenly since they will both be new to the marketplace.

It sucks to have this mentality, but it is something to keep in mind when deciding on the layout of your shop.

I do like to use all of the other sections on my shopfront for various reasons and in various ways depending on your specific shops needs.

Let’s take a look at each of these sections and see how they can be beneficial for your shop.

Featured Collection:

I like to have a featured collection at the top of my shop displaying what I consider my top converting products.

In one of my shops, it is a collection that features multiple product types that all have a similar design. For example, a party themed collection or holiday gift collection.

In other shops, it is a collection of my top selling product type with all the top selling designs in it. I usually call that collection “Popular ‘Product Type.’” For example: Popular Throw Pillows or Popular Mugs.

That way, it lets the customers know these products are selling and are desirable. I think that makes the customer more likely to click through to that collection and potentially buy something.

Categories:

I also display my top 4-6 categories for my shops at the top of my shopfront. Depending on the shop, it will either be first, above the featured collection, or right after the featured collection.

I choose a few categories that have my top converting product types in them and put them on display with a nice cover photo so the customer gets a sneak peak at what’s for offer.

Note: only categories with cover photos will display in the categories section.

Products:

I like displaying my products, but I don’t just display all my products. I like to select a product category to show and then it’s almost like showing another featured collection. So this is another opportunity to show high converting product types.

Sometimes products goes last, after collections.

Collections:

As noted above, I sometimes put my collections last, and sometimes they go second last on my shopfront. It really just depends on the shop and how strong I feel the collections I’ve created are vs how strong a specific product type/category performs.

Conclusion: How to Optimize Your Zazzle Shopfront and Why You Should

As you can see there is a few different ways to go about customizing your shop and it’s all going to depend on your specific shop needs. And of course your personal preferences.

I’d love to know what section you think is most important to display when building out your shopfront?

Creative Fabrica – My favorite place to get graphics with a straightforward commercial license for print on demand use.

Adobe Illustrator – I use Adobe Illustrator for at least half of my design creations. It’s pricey but so worth it when you choose to take the business seriously. Get a free trial to Adobe Illustrator here.

Graphics TabletMy partner got me this exact tablet as a Christmas gift when I was just starting out with creating my own designs. It has served me well now for several years and it was a very low cost investment that made a big impact in my POD business.

Ergonomic Mouse – If you spend long hours at the computer like me I highly recommend investing in a good ergonomic mouse. Over the years, I have caused an injury in my hand/wrist from being at the computer so much, but my pain has gotten significantly better since getting this ergonomic mouse on Amazon.
