How To get the “Personalize This Template” Option on Your Zazzle Product Listings

Here is a quick and simple tutorial on how to get that Personalize button on your Zazzle product listings!

I have also given an explanation for how to use the Product page label and URL parameter name in step 4. This was an afterthought, so I haven’t included it in the video, however I made a quick YouTube short which you can watch below.

Step 1 – Edit Design

Click to edit your design in the Zazzle design tool.

Step 2 – Select Layer

Make sure you have the layer that you want customers to be able to personalize selected.

You can do this by clicking on the object in the design window, or by selecting the layer from the layers menu on the left hand side.

Step 3 – Template

Once the layer is selected, look over on the right hand sidebar and toggle the “Make this a design object” on.

Step 4 – Name Template

If you would like to do so you can name your template under “Product page label” so that customers know exactly what it is meant for.

Options to name it:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • Year
  • Top left image
  • Bottom right image
  • Etc

The URL parameter name can usually be left alone. The only time I change this is if I have added multiple templates and I have places them in my design out of order. The templates will show up on the product page in the same order as the URL parameter’s alphabetical/numerical order.

Here’s a quick YouTube short to show you exactly what I mean.

My Recommended Tools

Below are my personal favorite tools that I use regularly in my POD business.
The below links are affiliate links meaning I may receive a small commission for anything purchased through these links at no extra cost to you.

Creative Fabrica – My favorite place to get graphics with a straightforward commercial license for print on demand use.

Adobe Illustrator – I use Adobe Illustrator for at least half of my design creations. It’s pricey but so worth it when you choose to take the business seriously. Get a free trial to Adobe Illustrator here.

Graphics TabletMy partner got me this exact tablet as a Christmas gift when I was just starting out with creating my own designs. It has served me well now for several years and it was a very low cost investment that made a big impact in my POD business.

Ergonomic Mouse – If you spend long hours at the computer like me I highly recommend investing in a good ergonomic mouse. Over the years, I have caused an injury in my hand/wrist from being at the computer so much, but my pain has gotten significantly better since getting this ergonomic mouse on Amazon.
